On the breeding of Green Iguanas....

Greetings.I would like to first thank those of you(you know who you are)who said such nice things in my defense.Secondly I would like to address the issue to which I was cast in such a light that I needed defending;
I can not,and will not be held responsible for the inappropriate behavior of others.I do breed my Iguanas,I love breeding my Iguanas,I love the Iguanas I breed...I will continue breeding my Iguanas.It was with much apprehension and thought that I made the decision to originally begin the task of breeding Iguanas.I am all too aware of the needless abuse of the Green Iguana.Sick imports,uneducated owners and misleading sellers destroy parts of my heart the same as anyone else who knows what these creatures can be if treated for properly.
It was these same ideals that led me to the decision to breed Iguanas,in part.My every approach to breeding Iguanas falls as far from the side of the spectrum I just mentioned as possible.First off,all of my offspring are cared for in the same manner as their beloved parents until the day they part from me.There is no one Iguana that is subject to malnourishment,cramped confines,or innappropriate conditions in any way shape or form....and this my friends,is no easy task...think of how much time and effort your one or two or three Iguanas demand of you.As far as the selling goes...I am in no rush to make a fast buck raising Iguanas,I would have to be crazy(!)or be selling them for four and five dollars a piece...and I do not.Each buyer that comes to me goes through a fair amount of screening and I have refused more than a few.In addition,if I do decide that I feel that an Iguana may be the right choice for an individual,I have taken the time to write a care sheet that goes with each animal(and is also available on my website/see below).It was my intention in that writing to not only address the needs of these magnificent animals,but also to further educate those who may be thinking these are not high maintanence animals.I also do my part to make myself available to them should they ever have questions or need help....I would even take them back should they ever change their minds and decide Geen Iguanas are not the pets for them...for a full refund.
As far as rescue animals....what can I say,there will always be strays and those who suffer from neglect,and it is not within my range to save them all.I think action should be taken against those who lead them to these conditions...the importers mainly(in the case of herps)...there is still such a thing as animal abuse isn't there?The Iguanas I offer are more for the novice,those who wish to have a taste of what it should be like,what Iguanas should look like,healthy and green...rather than dull and thin.I have saved a few Iguanas that have come my way in the past.Why should this be my responsibility? I ask myself this constantly every time I find myself nursing a sick herp back to health.Not everybody wants to start with a fixer-uppper.Some people want to start off with showroom quality.And why shouldn't they have this right? I don't have alot of faith in the humanity of others,but I do my part to see that each and every Iguana I bring into this world sees to having a great shot at success...there are no garauntees in life...and that is my pill to swallow.
I closing,I would like to add that I absolutely love bringing these creatures to life,the moment they stick their tiny heads out of that shell for their first time,and I get to meet the little life I have watched grow in the shadows of their confines,I fall in love with these animals ten times over.However,this feeling does not blind me to the responsibility to which I have taken upon myself.Do I think everyone should breed their Iguanas? Hell no!...but If you take responsibilty for your actions,why shouldn't you be able to take your love and fascination for these animals one step further?

[]<----here's your soapbox back.
