Those of you who go out to homes to get the rescued iguanas.....my heart goes out to you. I don't know that I could do that and not wind up in jail for assault of the owner in the vile situations I'm sure you see.
Are those people ever prosecuted? Are there laws in everyone's State/Province that protect reptiles? Are they being enforced?
If one gives up the large iguana and nothing is done to them (by law that is), what is to stop them from getting another baby (read cute) iguana and doing it again. Or perhaps a bearded dragon, a snake, etc. etc. that they will treat equally as bad or abandon as readily when it becomes too much trouble for them.
Don't be afraid to have your laws enforced. Don't be afraid to demand that laws be enforced.
