Seems to me the beef needs to be aimed at the importers, who FLOOD these greedy fast buck freddie Pet Shops with sick and diseased animals. Captive bred has always been preferred over imports. The US needs to develop legislation to stop the inundation of these poor things into our country....then you would see a return to the quality that we expect, but as long as you have people wanting to spend 6 bucks for an import then 400 dollars of accessories...then NOT want to get it to the vet and spend another small fortune for medical bills **sigh**...alas...you will find tons & tons of sick igs dumped and people looking to "rescue them" and the vicious cycle goes on and on and on. I know I rescued two of em ;-) I haven't done anything to stop it either but have become kind of a co-dependant to the process thats diseased from the minute those little buggers cross the border. Sorta reminds me of this person at the vets she had the gall to ask me how much I paid for Feo as if Feo wasn't worth the expense of the vet or my interest. I will however, NEVER recommend an iguana to anyone....ever. They ARE high maintenance animals NOT intended for the novice or unexperienced herper. Perhaps going from pet store to pet store...and urging them to buy captive bred would be a more positive step in the right direction.
Goodnight
Gina
