Don't understand...ZooMed claims that the Hot Rocks they sell should NOT be the sole source of heat for iguanas! I totally agree with them on that. Not getting into the hot rock debate...especially after seeing just as many iguanas burned by inappropriate placed che's and basking lights. Does that mean we go after makers of che's, incandescent bulbs, infared lights, metal domes, hoods;fixtures next? I have links with pictures of these elements causing horrible burns and injury to iguanas too! Iguanas getting burned by hot rocks these days are by cheaply made hot rocks from Mexico & China, by home wired/rigged hot rocks or improperly used by owners, or hot rocks made over five years ago. Some herpers swear by them, never had a problem with them...I used to use em years ago for my snakes..hooked up a rheostat to control heat..but because human heating pads are so much cheaper I use them now. I think that the reponsibility lies on the consumer to protect their igs from injury by investigating the source of the products they use and use it responsibly as intended. I think ZooMed puts out pretty good products...even if they are overpriced..they do spend a fortune on advertising and research and do exaggerate they're claims but that's a whole other issue.I do not see that they are doing anything shady. Is it the advertising of the scrawny pic of the ig that gets everyones goat or just the fact that its a hot rock?
