: : It amazes me that you can place such a high value on an iguana but yet you speak nothing of cattle.
: : do you know how they are killed?
: : but i agree with you... iguanas suffer way more at the hands of importers and since we dont have to see dying cows who cares...right?
: : kev
: Kev, in your attempts to argue, I just have to point out a simple fact. Cattle are breed for food in this country. Iguanas are not. If we lived in Mexico, where iguanas are readily available to eat and considered acceptable by many, no, I probably wouldn't have a problem with it. But, in this country (US), iguanas are meant to be pets and it was my understanding that pets were to be cared for properly. This entire conversation and fighting about heat rocks has wandered off track. People in the US buy iguanas for pets. Pet stores and companies like ZooMed are flat out targeting the fact that most of those people are uninformed about the proper care of iguanas. Sure, many people who may seem dumb or stupid to you, are buying iguanas up, just like goldfish. A disposable, cheap pet. All we are trying to do is cure the epidemic of bad information and myths that all of these people are believing are facts. If ZooMed would just package and market their products better, pet stores will follow their lead. Many pet stores don't know anything about iguana care, except for the information they read off of the products they sell. The proper temperature is the key and there are many other ways to have the proper temperature, so why not do it a better way? I swear, there is more conversations about nothing on this message board. Everyone here is concerned about something that is wrong in the iguana world...and all we want to do is fix it. And, Kev, asking a guy how old he is doesn't make much sense, because there are MANY VERY knowledgeable youngsters out there that are learning the proper care for iguanas, and some are doing a better job than most adults. Please, everyone, just be nice for a change...all this fighting and glory hounding is getting old.
