regarding your statment of They DO NOT require under belly heat to digest their food. Therefore making it completely unnecessary for an Ig owner to put a hot rock in the enclosure at all.
you are correct as long as the surrounding air temp is at a level that will allow normal digestion. and there are alot of people who buy a vita-lite and a heat rock for their ig and thats it. yes i know this isnt right so dont start....
but in that scenario the hot rock would help with normal digestion....
Dont believe it???
ever seen what happens to a reptile that eats right before it goes into hibernation.. or an animal kept at a lower than required air temp for long periods.....
The food rots in their gut. not a pretty site.
