ok...so it *is* the hot rocks made by ZooMed specifically that's getting you riled, not so much the advertising of its product. Can't remember ever looking at the packaging of the ZooMed heat rock to find out what exactly it says...Im sure there are precautions/instructions/ guidelines on the packaging...if there isn't please let me know...I will definately e-mail them about my concerns. I believe that your beef is really with uninformed Pet Shop people "pushing" them onto the unknowing consumer for instance...at the PetCo website they still advocate a hot rock for iguanas on the their Iguana care sheet.
I could also ask you for specific proof that the pics of burned Iguanas you sent to ZooMed were caused by "ZooMed" hot rocks, were taken within the last five years, under what circumstances, the condition and origination of the hot rock the injured iguana sat on.If you can provide me with that information I am open to changing my current opinion about the use of them.
Its ok tho...you don't need to prove anything really...Im nobody special...just opinionated!
I agree with you re: heat sensors are primarily on their back , regulated by the parietal eye..but my iguanas seem to love that belly heat!I cannot provide them with a giant rock warmed by the sun that iguanas routinely sit on in the wild...so the human heating pads will just have to suffice for now!
