lighting lamps

I was wondering what lighting fictures you all might use and which one are the best. I bought the clamp light fictures from home depo and in a year three out of five have broken. I alternate my day and night lights so no one ficture is on for too long. Is it normal for these lamps to have a one year life span. Maybe i just bought the wrong brand. Any info would be helpful. ^^^Sam^^^
