i buy the clamp on lamps from the hardware store also, but i get the ones with porcelain for where the bulb screws into. if it is just a regualr desk lamp then it can`t handle the high wattages of the light bulbs we have to use for our igs. the ceramic ones aren`t that expensive- less than $10 and i would thing they would have a little longer of a life span! =)

I alternate my day and night lights so no one ficture is on for too long. Is it normal for these lamps to have a one year life span. Maybe i just bought the wrong brand.
