I got a tip that our local humane society has an Ig that
is about the same size as Beanie (about 30") They have it
in a cage where it cannot move. Of course, I know that our
local humane society does not take Igs in as owner release
so I called willing to help out if needed. I was told that
the Ig was a stray (it has been below 20 degrees for the last
week or so with night time at 0-3 degrees). The person I talked
to said it was not healthy according to their staff vet because
something was wrong with the jaw. Chances are the vet does
not know anything about Iguanas! They said they were going to
euthanize and that they would not release it to me. I even
offered to come see what shape it was in because I felt chances
were it probably had MBD due to the jaw problem. She told me
the vet was the expert and that they would not give it up. I really am pissed because they are not even giving the poor thing
a chance. What really broke the camel's back is that they call
me to pick up Guinea Pigs when they have too many as I do rescue
on a small scale so they know I am a responsible person.
I am sorry for being pissy but I just had to vent!! I would
like to kick the persons a-- that dumped that Ig and maybe
the humane societies also for not giving it a chance!
