Well, I'm not really the best one to answer the question as my knowledge of venom extraction and its sale is fairly limited, but here goes:

I have read that labs are very particular with the source of their venom and generally keep their own animals as their primary source. Also, I have read that venom is fairly unstable and is easily contaminated, so it's difficult to maintain and transport. One really has to know what he or she is doing. In addition to this, cottonmouths are very common and are readily available at a low cost, so any profit from selling them would be minimal at best. Finally, I agree that it is wrong to collect snakes in the wild and sell them for profit. The comparison you make to the rattlesnake roundups is a good point.

The only problem I see is that too many times, questions asked on this site are answered with unprovoked, needlessly aggressive responses. It just seems like some people with lots of knowledge that frequent this forum, have big chips on their shoulders for whatever reason. You have mentioned in the past that you are concerned for the integrity of this hobby and this forum. It's just my opinion that treating less knowledgable guests to this forum like they are complete idiots and not answering their questions honestly and humbly undermines that integrity.

But whatever...it's an open forum and a free country...do what you want.
