Pure vs. cross breeding Why?

Currently our family owns 2 Rosy Boas and 4 Leopard Geckos (in addition to fish, frogs, hamsters etc) and I have a question about acceptable breeding practices. In the Leopard Gecko world the most popular and highest regarded professional breeders seem to be those who successfully streamline geckos genetically into new designer or albino combinations. With the Rosy Boa anyone who crossbreeds different locale specific snakes seems to be outcast. My question is why? For myself if a breeder came up with a new color variation by cross breeding that my family found interesting we would be happy to own one and might even pay a premium price for the snake.
Ok , so I am trying to stir a little debate or exchange of opinions. I want to know the reason behind the difference in views from lizards to snakes.
