Black Rat Snake Size

This goes way back to the 70's for me. I've heard the further north you go the larger the obsoleta get. I've heard of 9 feet "being common". Has anyone ever seen a 9 footer? If so, in what state? Has anyone ever bought a baby and raised it to such a size?
