This is a pic of a black rat shed skin I found in Hardin county Ky earlier this year. For comparison, the rake is 5', and the shed skin was at least 7' with an additional 6" piece in the tail area which was not attached to the rest. I know of course that the shed skin would be longer than the actual snake, but still a pretty good sized snake.
