When I was a kid,living in Kansas City, Ks., back in the mid-60's, the janitor at my JR. HS., caught a 6 ft. Black Rat, in a hedge row, (then called Pilot black snakes), and was going to KILL IT! Luckily I was outside during gym class, and talked him into giving it to me. He put it in a box, and taped it shut, and after school I picked it up. The bus driver had already heard what was in the box, and refused to let me on the bus...I had to walk home, 7 miles, with my new friend!
I had him for a year, and when I finally decided to turn him loose, we took him to Skyline Woods.. and let him go.
On our way back out of the woods, we found an 8 ft.+ MONSTER Black Rat! If I had brought him home, I would have been in DEEP S**T so we let him go. He was the biggest B.R. that I had ever seen. I think the days of the "REALLY BIG ONES" are long gone... So sorry my young friends..... DOC
