...that most serious Kentucky Herpotologists do NOT acknowledge the validity of these supposed "native Kentucky" mutations. It is no mystery why these things just happened to crop up near Kentucky's largest metropolitan center (Louisville). The largest concentration of population in the state of Kentucky would naturally contain the largest and most concentrated population of captive herps. These specimens are certainly escaped or released pets, or the products of unions between native animals and released pets. Please, get some objective DNA analysis from a disinterested party before you continue to pass those things off as Kentucky locality Rat Snakes.
Once again, no disrespect intended to you K.E., but I feel obligated to offer some balance in this discussion with my varying viewpoint.
