That shoe can go on the other foot. If the locality can not be disproved by means of DNA that means that it likewise can not be proven. How is K.E. going to be able to prove the locality of his snakes? As K.E. even admitted in one of his posts, the burden of proof is not on the establishment (status quo), but rests squarely on the shoulders of the claimant. I believe if memory serves me that K.E. didn't even collect any of these specimens himself---rather he purchased them or received them as gifts. Where is the chain of evidence there? I guess it's like I said from the beginning. If one wants it to be true then one can find enough supporting evidence to convince oneself.
Personally I could give a crap less if the snakes are locality specific. That isn't what started this whole mess, it was your strong belief that these animals were escaped pets or crosses of such with native animals! Just speaking for myself, an albino rat snake is worth the same regardless of whether it came from Jefferson County, KY or Howard County, MD. Again, that is just my opinion.... there may be people out there that are more than willing to pay more for a locality mutant. This is K.E.'s project and when he offers specimens people will either buy them or not buy them. It's really that simple.
Keep on deluding yourself Dwight. I'm sure you have a stake in it down the road. No doubt you wouldn't be objectionable to having another "hot new" Rat Snake morph to add to your offering (thus your predisposition to wanting it to be true).
Oh, now I am delusional?? LOL. I'm not the one with the strong taste of foot in mouth right about now, eh? To be brutally honest, I am extremely interested in K.E.'s 'calico' cow sucker project, along with some of the others. Will these animals have commercial value? I seriously doubt it. But to me they will be most interesting nonetheless!
