In the light of recent posts and events, I think it would be great if all the ig owners on this site could post 1) a detailed list of their iguana's diets, 2) their ages, 3) a photograph and 4) the reasoning behind the diet they choose to feed. (I am imagnining that the owners with the oldest iguanas will probably also be the owners with the most complete, vegetarian diets, but am still curious).
Here's mine:
1) a mix of collards, mustard greens, turnip greens, and occasionally escarole; a variety of squashes, primarily zucchini and banana squash; parsnips, turnips, and other high-fiber vegetables; something colorful like a piece of fruit or red pepper as a treat.
2) Phil is one year and 4 months old to date. Here he is:
3)
4) I chose my diet after reading a variety of books/web pages, among which are James Hatfield's book and Melissa Kaplan's website. The emphasis on collards and certain squashes is largely because they are readily available (and cheaper than dog food, too!)
