build him a nice big enclosure...Igs are pretty resilliant creatures but I agree with Mark, you should get him to the vet asap. He most likely will overcome the problem if it is a small abcess, but you won't know for sure until you take him. He should have been out of that tank long ago, but at least you are wiser to the situation and are willing to make his life better.
Is he your first Iguana? How is his appetite, what are you feeding him, do you give him any roaming time? Is he tame? Hope you can get him checked out soon. Let us know what happens. Take care, J
