Why did you give up so easily on the Tegu? There are many sources out there for prekilled frozen rodents...no need to worry about injuries to your lizard from a live rodent. Also, skinned rats are not always a necessity when feeding a Tegu recovering from surgery (which is a rare occurance anyway). I keep both Green Igs and Tegus, love them both!!
Don't give up on adopting a rescue because you want a young iguana. I know several rescue and rehab operations out there that have young iguanas available. Personally, give me one that's a year and a half to 2 years old. I find the young adults much easier to work with. Best of luck!
