The tegu I would be getting...

The Tegu I'd be getting would only be about 2-3 weeks old. I'll be getting him from Agama. I live in FL, so I'm not sure if I'm going to drive out to Alabama yet to pick him up or just have him shipped. I'm hoping I'll be able to drive out there to pick him up (depending on finances) I dont like having animals shipped. I worry to much.
What do young tegus eat? Like Crix and stuff until they can be fed mice? Also with the amount of mice that an adult Arg Blk and Wht Tegu would eat, would it be easier to just breed the mice? Thanks for the info about flicking it on the head. I hadn't heard of that one before.
