I dont have any myself, I have cared for a few where I used to work though.. It is recomended to feed pre-killed always though. Mice bite back!
If you raised your own you would have to pre-kill them, the feeder forum dicusses many ways to do this. Personally, I would pick them up by the tail with a glove on and then flick them in the head. It knocks them unconscious so they cant bite. Or use frozen. I have heard though, from many people that unless you get a tegu when its a hatchling, that it has a greater chance of being highly agressive. The tegu I worked with (B&W Argent..) was about a year old and had been in the store almost that long, and boy was he ever nasty! 3 months of trying to hand-tame him and I never got anywhere.
