out of control Iguana

Hi, I have a 2 ft long iguana that is very frustrating to own. he constantly tried to get out of his cage and is terrified of me even when i go near the cage. He has been this way for 6 months which is when i got him and wanted to know will he ever become tame? if not, i am getting rid of him. its just no fun.
