help please

My friend has two young children and a baby due soon and she is thinking of getting an iguana ,she has heard lots of horror stories about salmonella and needs advice and help from the exoerts . Is it possible to get salmonella from an iggy if so how does this happen, in your opinions is it a good idea to mix iggys and children (I dont mean in the same cage obviously lol).
What should she be aware of or have you any advice that could help her thank you all so much fiona
