First IF AND I MEAN A BIG BIG HUGE MONSTEROUSE IF your friend does lot and lots of research, and is aware of the damage an iguana can do and is aware of how much time an iguana takes. First id say wait till after the new baby is 6 months or so, we all know how exhausting newborns are (ive had three) let the baby get into a routine, let the family readjust to the new little bundle then look into it furhter. You have to understand how much care is involved in an iguana. YES there are serouse risks that can/do involve a child and an iguana. I dont advice an iguana to be the first pet a child is around. My children have since there birth have been around animals, my children have a very respectful of animals and KNOW how to handle animals. Now I NEVER leave the iguana and children alone the iggy isnt trust worthy yet and the girls are still little. I can say under very careful watch very careful strict superviion, very strick knowledeg and LOTS AND LOTS of WORK day in and day out on your friends part. The wrok with kids will tripple when you add an iguana. My girls get to have contact with our iggy by talking and petting when I supervise and Im holding the iguana. Tell your friend to wait at least 6 months so they can adjust to new baby then do hours upon hours of research before making this life long decision.
: My friend has two young children and a baby due soon and she is thinking of getting an iguana ,she has heard lots of horror stories about salmonella and needs advice and help from the exoerts . Is it possible to get salmonella from an iggy if so how does this happen, in your opinions is it a good idea to mix iggys and children (I dont mean in the same cage obviously lol).
: What should she be aware of or have you any advice that could help her thank you all so much fiona
