Here in the south, every spring - summer we have those same little red ants. Drives us nuts! They love collards. *sigh* We broke down and hired a "pest control" company to spray. I found one near us who (reading from the ad now)"...extra precaution around children and pets..." Problem is, the stuff they spray is so mild, it really hasn't made much difference. They were here Saturday and decided that in August, we will remove all reptiles to the farest corner of the back yard and bomb the crawl space. Its very frustrating. Instead of bleach/water, you can get the same results with dish soap/water in a spray bottle.
