Ok, just got the guy and then looked at a page that was talking about black ratsnakes and had pictures

I notiecd the black rat hatchling they had pictures of had all black spots with no lines or dilinations. My little hatchling has more brownish going towards blackish at the edge spots (well, I think he's more than a hatchling. I read they are about 13" born, I think he is already many inches longer than that).
I'm just curious as to if you can tell what color the snake will be grown up by the spots (I know that black rats can be brown-black). Should I be worried this guy isn't going to go black (and I mean black, not brown) when he goes older or is the spots no indication at all (the seller does say I can return hatchling if not completely satisfied, and I want a black ratsnake, not a brown one)?
