Your snake will probably turn all black. Most people who breed black rats strive for the jet black ones. They are a beautiful animal indeed. Yours should start darkening up within 6 months. Most of the black rats that turn jet black will be pretty close to all black by the time they are a year old. Some pattern may still be visible, and that will disappear with time. Although when the snake feeds or is nice and fat from a big meal, the pattern can sometimes be visible. You may even see some red flecking between the scales!
Black rats are my all time favorite snake.

I need to take a recent pic, this is from Nov, and he is quite a bit bigger.
