Actually my dog found it at the dog park. We thought it was dead at first, all dried out and not moving. Turned out it was alive, but far away from any water and sort of in shock from being harassed by dogs.
I have 4 other reptiles, 2 kingsnakes, a bearded dragon, and a vieled chameleon. So being a herp lover I just couldn't leave it there. We brought it home and got it in some fresh, warm water and UV light.
Mainly we just want to keep it long enough to make sure it's okay and can take care of itself, because it was at death's door earlier today. It seems to have perked up a bit now that it's got water, peace, and quiet. Once it's bigger we'll release it again.
I've had turtles before, but nothing like this, and nothing this young. What do you guys recommend feeding it? We got some aquatic turtle pellets and pinhead crickets, so far it hasn't touched them, but I think it's still kinda in shock. Any other tips?
