That's something I've always wondered about. Do the aquatic turtles actually stay underwater for the winter? October to March? That's 6 months without air. Or do they burrow into the mud at the waters edge? The herp books I have never really say. They just say that the turts hibernate, duh!
I've also wondered how people keep their turts in the veggie bin in the refrigerator. Refrigerators are airtight and the veggie bins reduce the air to about a 2 sq. ft. area.
I'm also on the verge of going to a pond because my guys are getting to big for their tank. And boy, do I have questions.
