I can understand the hibernation part. It's the need to breath that I can't fathom.(no pun intended)Even with a slower metabolism, how does any animal last a month, a week, a day, an hour! without any oxygen?
I have 2 Maps and 2 Painteds (6 months old)and I have timed them for underwater staying power. Even when they are totally engrossed in something, they come up for air within 2 minutes.
So somebody has to explain to me how they can bury themselves in the mud in the bottom of a pond and survive without air.
Checker.
