please help - fast

I don't know how it happened. One of our cats got Merlin. He's alive and in one piece but in shock. He seems dead but will move a little. Rep vet 1 1/2 hour away. how do I help him with the shock. Sprayed him with warm water and have layed him under a basking light for warmth. I want to hold him but I don't know if that will be bad or good. please help me. what do i do?
