Testing the waters first.

Hello,

Could I get some advise from whoever wants to give it?

My son (10 years old) would like to get an iguana.
We are at the "research" stage. And we won't buy one until we are satisfied that he is able to care for it. (With my help of course.)

Were looking at starting with a juvie. Something about 12" long.
We are aware of the size it will become and we do have the space to offer it as needed.

What would be the best enclosure to start with?
Aqarium or cage? Heat lamp, light, or undertank? Or both? Male, female, does it matter?

Any advise will be wonderful. Is a petstore an ok source or should we look somewhere else? We live in central Illinois so our choices are limited.
