Well, thought I had about 4 more months before friend turned over his iguana(about 10-11 inches long). He called today and said he was leaving
tomorrow and if I still wanted the iguana, if not, he would release it in the woods. Well, I gotta take it, would die for sure in 30 degree weather!
Going to get it tomorrow, now this is where I need help!! I have a 55G aquarium that he will give me with the iguana, that's it! Need to know, how to set it up
temporary until I can build something bigger! I was gonna buy some big reptile branches at Pet Smart and a wire cover. Also, is one of them hammocks ok to get?
How far should I have the top of branch and hammock from the top where the 18 inch fluorescent 7% UVB and heat light will sit? What should I use for substrate?
I was thinking indoor/outdoor carpet, where to get it and what kind? What does the overall temp need to be and humidity %? Is the canned and dry iguana food any good? What kind is the best nutritional wise?
I will hopefully start making my own, soon! How many spots do I need for basking and do I need a uvb across the whole top or can I put it only on half of the aquarium?
Please give me the link to Melissa Kaplans site, I want to read it again as I have in the past. The iguana looks to be pretty fat and has just shed, but that's about all I can tell. He said he fed it carrots and veggies and canned food?
Should I put a small basin in the aquarium for him to soak in? Please give me any ideas on what to do and to feed? Sorry for all the questions, this just came up, not as prepared as I want to be!
Thanks for any ideas!!!
Also, anything I should put in the aquarium, please let me know!
