If you are attracted to corns, that would be a great choice. As for "personalities"...well...sort of? I also have an iguana, and although she is also easy to handle I think that a couple of my snakes have more personality. I truly don't know if any of them "enjoy" being handled. But the cornsnakes and some of the other ratsnakes handle so easily that I would say they can be very easy going about it. If personality means individual differences then, yes, we can talk personalities. One of my ratsnakes is a squeezer, two of them are downright docile, and my baby texas rat is still kinda feisty, but she is calming down to the point where she doesn't try to bite me anymore. I would say that if you get a corn and handle it regularly you will enjoy doing so. As for the prey, in nature they are constrictors. You will not need to worry about that, as you can and should buy frozen rodents, thaw them and feed them. This avoids injury to the snake and any possibility of transfer of disease. I also agree with the post regarding pet shops. Avoid them for the sake of both cost and quality. IF you are lucky enough to live within striking distance of a reptile show (check out EVENTS or tell us where you live), then I highly suggest that. You will get lots of choices AND get a chance to handle your potential pet before you buy. My 3 calmest ratsnakes were already pretty calm when I bought them as yearlings. Again, good luck. Keep learning and asking questions, both before and after you get your snake. Duffy

:thanks for all the posts. im attracted to the cornsnakes.. i like the colors. what i was trying to say when i asked if they get to know you is do they have personalities, like and iguana or water dragon would? and do think they actually enjoy being handled, or just tolerate it? when i take my gecko out he runs up my arm and sits on my shoulders and watches everthing that happens. are cornsnakes, or any other snakes, like that? and for cornsnakes, how do they kill their food? thanks again for the posts and help. dave
