Why are you feeding 5 mice a week? That seems like a bit much and if you are indeed feeding 5 mice, they are probably too small. Sounds like your ball needs a small-medium rat every 7-10 days. My ball is 3 feet long and 505 grams. I am feeding him ONE medium rat every 10 days and he is growing much faster than when he was eating mice.
