:while doing some searching i discovered ball pythons. apparently they get 5 feet long and adults can be housed in a 30 gallon tank? and theyre good about handling and quite docile, ive read. if this is good info then i am a soon-to-be ball python owner. any thoughts? dave

If you do get a ball python, be very sure it's captive bred (not just born or hatched). Make sure it's eating, and ask what it's eating (mice, rats, live, frozen/thawed). Balls can be very problematic feeders- they tend to go on fasts during the winter, and can be a pain to change food items with. With my ball python, I personally have had no problems, but I've heard of others who have had. They don't stand up too well to handling, and can get stressed, but overall they're good snakes. For the most part mine just sits in her hide and sleeps, but I see her out on occasion. Here's a pic of my girl, she's still little- a late '01 and about 3 feet long, eating f/t medium rats.
