:Patrick, you reply like you want to have something informative to add but you spend more time correcting my grammar than answering ANY of the questions I posed. I do abbreviate and try to make these posts smaller than I need. Let me open your eyes to the arguement...
I reply as though I'm not sure what you're saying. This is why I worry about grammar.
: For example in corns and boas and ball pythons there is the existence of "caramel albinos","lavender albinos" and regular albinos. Dr. Bechtel aknowledges the HYPOMELANISTIC anomalies much as I did in my last post. That albinos are technically hypomelanistic due to thier reduction in melanin.
: Now I make an arguement that the "HYPO" gene(a named gene)will not be completely accurate as its only time before another gene displaying a different charecteristic of HYPOMELANISM is proved. What then? Why fall into a "set" name that we KNOW we will have to re-name later?
So far as I can tell, the only problems you're seeing are simply a result of what I believe to be misunderstandings of the terms. By my understanding of the terminology, there is no problem. So I offer my understanding of the terminology as a solution to the perceived problems, but for some reason you seem just to ignore it. *shrug*
`Hypo' and `hypomelanistic' are synonymous in this usage. `Hypo Everglades rat snake' is just a shorter way of saying `hypomelanistic Everglades rat snake'. Neither `hypo' nor `hypomelanistic' are proper names, of genes or of anything else. They are adjectives.
: More to the point, have you ever SEEN a "HYPO" glades rat?
Not in person, but I've seen pictures.
: What do you think? Would you call it albino?
Nope. It obviously has pigmentation, therefore it is not an albino.
Moreover, they have dark eyes, and you don't get dark eyes without the presence of melanin, therefore they are not amelanistic.
: If you werent influenced by what others had to think? Do you think this way because of what YOU think or because of what the population thinks?
I'm not in the habit of believing things simply because others do.
: I have yet to get a single answer from either of your posts,Jeff
I think you're looking for the answer in the wrong place.
