Some researchers believe the reason for igs eating dirt is, that the igs are missing something in their diet and they are intaking dirt to get a mineral that they are missing from their normal food intake. I've read that you should avoid allowing them to do this, instead study the food supply and try to figure out what might be missing from their diet. Vitamins. should always be given to an ig on a regular basis, not all food sources available here in the US can produce everything a healthy ig needs. We maintain once or twice a week suppling our igs with Vitamins. My suggestion would be to avoid anything outside.
