Ok I have been reading bunch of articles about taming and such. I have read that you should leave your ig alone for the 1st week or two when you get him home before you start to interact with it. I also have been reading that you should start to handle him at least for 30 min a day from day one. My ig is a baby still. Only 4 months old. (that’s what I have been told). What approach should I take? What work the best for you?
When I 1st got him he basically played how I call it dead. I left him alone and just went in to the cage to give him water, food and clean it. Now if I am near the cage and move around his eyes and head follows me but still looks like he is on starting line and ready to bolt, but if I just sit there and don’t say anything and just watch, he moves around and climes no problem. Today when I went to clean his cage when I came home from work I seen him getting his tail ready for a whip and right after that he got up and started to do the head bobbing thing once he thought I was reaching for him. It was so cute. He hasn’t, I say him but it could be her, tried to bite me yet. (shouldn’t complain about that I guess)
I did tried to pet him once he settled down but as soon as he felt my finger he bolted.
On a good note, he started to eat more now. Since I’m not sure what’s normal for this time of the year or his age I’m just glad he is eating. His color also is way more bright greener then it was when I brought him home so I’m happy about that.
