OK, my girlfriend has two Igs, and she just built them a new enclosure. She wants to have a substrate in the cage, but does not know which way to go. She is toying with several types of substrates. They are:
1. Lizard Litter, the stuff that looks like grain
2. Play sand, very cheap and looks good
3. The orchid bark/Cyprus mulch substrate for lizards, which I use
4. Dirt, Not one of her fav's, but will use if need be
5. Pine shavings
The worry is of impaction, and we would really like to hear some alternate sugestions if these are sub-par substrates, and will directly harm her Igs. News paper may have toxic ink so she refuses to use it. What would really be benefitial is if i can get some experiences with these substrates, good or bad. Any sort of input on these substrates would help greatly, and be much apreciated. Thank you in advance.
P.S. - Sand seems to be the front runner right now.
