The impaction is a real concern with any particulate substrate. The newspaper is fine as long as you only use the b&w sections not the colored. My personal preference is for lineoleum or tile. If you dont tub train then putting down a sheet of paper on top of the floor where the Ig tends to "go" makes cleanup quick and easy and the floor is easy to wipe clean.
