I think you and xta are correct, and no need to sugar coat it because if that is done it makes this travesty less grave than it is. I will never "buy" an iguana, never. Actually I do not like to buy ANY animal from a pet store.
:Long day...Tired....Have to say it though..... "Purchasing" and "rescuing" are two COMPLETELY different things. "Purchasing" does nothing but reinforce a retailer's view that it's OK to treat an animal in this manner and does nothing to change the situation. "Rescuing" is exactly that. If you want to "purchase" then purchase. If you want to "rescue", convince the owner to give up the ig, call the media, bring attention to the shop's lousy animal husbandry, file a written complaint with local animal control/animal cruelty enforcement - and be willing to stand up in court if/when any charges are formally brought. In other words, do something to bring attention to the problem and potentially solve it. "Purchasing" won't accomplish it.
:Someone please make that sound less harsh.....
