Hello, I am new to this forum. About three weeks ago I found an Iguana in my yard. I put up signs and went door to door, but could not locate the owner (nor could I find anyone suitable to give it to). I decided I would have to keep it. I took it to a vet and they said it was in surprisingly good health and that she was a female probably about 8 months old. I named her Margarita after her nice bright green color.
When I found her I found Melissa Kaplan's website, so she has been eating a good salad. Now I need to build her a proper enclosure and am hoping to get some good advice as to materials, lighting, humidity and heating options. My dad is quite handy, so he can make almost anything. If it makes a difference, I live in California. I am wanting to make an indoor enclosure first as it is winter here and the weather is too nasty for Margarita to go outside. I will work on an outdoor summer enclosure later.
Margarita is about 20 inches in total length, but I would like to build an enclosure that would last her for atleast a couple of years. I realize it will need to be fairly large. I am thinking about building a corner unit.
Margarita and I would appreciate any input!
