The outside cage stands up to storms great. The 4 corner 4x4 posts are sunk in the ground @1-2 feet to make sure it didn't tip during our extremely windy fall season. I probably should have treated the wood to make it last longer, but I plan to build a better one in a few years anyways so then it'll be turned into a chicken coop or green house. Here in the Mojave desert we have no idea what humidity is LOL.. I think even on our rainy days it ever gets over 20%.. but I do have a misting system installed inside it, the wood hasn't been affected by the moisture and humidity from it yet(only been up a year though) I can put up my plans for it if anyone is interested, soon as I get them scanned.
I don't think there is a problem with using tile, but the grout may be a problem. As it will absorb most liquid things. You could maybe use a silicone or other non-toxic water-proof type of substance instead of grout? I would build her cage as big as possible, because when the time comes for a bigger one you may not be able to get it done...-personal experience-...
