We have taken in a young (1 1/2 yrs) iguana from a home. He was living in their closet( no UV light or heater ) with a diet of Cheese, peas, and squash. Needless to say, he's stressed. We were not giving anything that was his from the previous owners so everything to him right now is foreign. We also have a female iguana ( 4 1/2 yrs ) who we are keeping seperated and out of view. One of the main problems we are having is he is not eating on his own. If I sit with him I can get him to eat about four bites of mangos, but no collard greens, bean or squash. He's dehydrated and I have been soaking him.
Any suggestions on what I could do to get him to relax and start eating? His weigh is about half what he should, Im very concerned about stress and his weigh combined. Please let me know anything that could help.
Thanks
A Very Worried Parent.
