Jeff & Sue..At the risk of sounding boring...Im responding as if you know nothing about iguanas ok ..so bare with me, and forgive me( I just got off work when I posted to your last inquiry & was nuts!)...Given what you have asked...this is what I'd do:
1) get your Ig in the sun...or under a "fresh" UVB light for up to 12 hrs a day! They need it to digest & it stimulates an Igs appetite
2)VERY IMPORTANT: Its not uncommon for stress inc. new surroundings, new owners to throw them off feed for 10-14 days. Not to worry...keep food namely greens in its tank at ALL times.he may want a little privacy when eating...maybe he's shy!.replace daily as mold grows quickly.Know how much youve put in...Do not hand feed unless you intend to force feed! Bad habits are hard to break! It's just gonna take some time for this guy to adjust
3) Get a fecal sample and send it off to the vet to rule out parasities they'll want the green part of it...save the urates for fertilizer. Its not uncommon for igs w/o proper temps/lighting to have an explosion of parasites unleashed
4) Get some greens in him...mustard, dandelion(flowers and all) yes those weeds ya got in your backyard those are them! after cleaning them leave the rinse water on em..^hydration
5) Hydrate by soaking Ig, add some pedilite...gatorade works too but is very high in sugar(alot of igs drink while soaking).unless you want to force feed it water & pedialyte..then go for that too. That may stress out your stressed out little guy even moreso, but you got to do what you got to do...(I swear Iguanas carry grudges!)
6) Do add vitamin supplements to the greens dust lightly..My igs like the taste of rep-call or minerall
7) Try papaya vs mango...little pieces in Igs salad
lots of healing enzymes in it
8) Wait it out..like I posted..6 months you'll see him double in size

As far as "power feeding " an iguana ..its merely upping the protein intake & a heavier vitamin/mineral supplementation so far as Ive been able to figure out. Its dangerous..Ive read will send some Igs into renal failure. Personally Ive upped the protein (low-fat dog food, tofu, legumes) when my Igs have been sick or injured...but this is only for a very short time.
BTW...whats your Igs name? Please keep in touch & let us know how he's doin!

Hope this clears up a few things....and good luck
Gina, Juana & Feo
