This is a question about a friend's iguana, I wouldn't ever do this too animal myself.
The iguana is 3 or 4 years old I think. Last time I checked, he was around 28 inches. She has been keeping it in a 15 gallon tank. The floor of the tank hasn't been cleaned in weeks. 2 Months ago, myself and a few other friends helped her build a much bigger cage. I believe it is 5 ft high, 4 ft long, 3 ft wide. We tried to convince her to make it 6 ft. high and 4 ft wide, but her parents wouldn't allow that. Anyway, the iguana hasn't been moved yet because the door hasn't been attached. Her dad was going to help her do it over the weekend, but she decided to go out with friends instead. So, as you can tell, I am already quite frustrated. I spent two days at her house building the cage, my fingers were bright red they were so sore, and she isn't using the cage.
She rarely has proper food for the iguana. Today, they was the base to a head of lettuce and a wendy's french fry in the tank. Yes, that is right, a french fry. The head of lettuce is normal for this. The food is never put in the bowl, and the bowl is dirty. She feeds the iguana macaroni and cheese as well. The water dish has a little bit of dirty water in it.
UV lighting is nonexistant. She might have had a bulb on it once when another friend told her she needed to get it. However, when it burnt out that was the end of the uv light.
For now, all I can do is ask if she wants me to come and help her put the door on, and take the ig out when I go over, but i'd like to do something better for him.
The iguana is very nice, which I can't understand. So many people take excellent care of their pets, and they still turn out mean. She takes horrible care of the poor little iggy, and it is one of the nicest you will ever find.
