Carrots and pumpkin?

I saw this discovery special tonight (aug 3) on iguanas, and these researchers were helpings ome iguana popultaion in south america on some factory's grounds. Anyways they said tehy add pumkin and carrots to enhance the iguanas colors. In boris' diet he eats butternut squash, which i assume is a lot like pumkin? i might be wrong, would adding some carrots along with the sdquash help his color any? he also gets collards, escarole, endive and green beans. ( i dont just feed squash lol)
