black dots?

After Sneakers shed on her head, no poem intended, she developed three tiny black dots. One dot per scale right on top of her head. I have been watching those dots for a couple of days, wondering what they are. When I first took her out with me today she still had the THREE black dots, when I went to feed her a little bit of orange I noticed more on her head. They weren't there 20 minutes before. I counted them and there is 12. All on her head. Just since I've been typeing this message, two more on her nose and two more around her eyes. What the ??!!%#$ is going on? They are totally smooth and looks like part of the skin color. Each black dot to one scale. Looks like she got tiny drops of ink on her head. The closest vet is two hours away at 70mph on the freeway. We just had 6" of snow today and have been advised to stay off the roads with another storm on its way.

Please tell me this is normal or at least not immediately life endangering. If you have the web address of something I could read on this it might be helpful.
